Air Traffic Control Serbia and Montenegro SMATSA Ltd. provides air traffic control services in the airspace of the total area of 145 556 km2, which includes the airspace of the Republic of Serbia, the state of Montenegro, part of the airspace above the Adriatic Sea, as well as 55% of the upper airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The main activity SMATSA Ltd. presents the provision of air navigation services (Air Navigation Services Provision), while additional services related to education of flight and the pilot, calibration of terrestrial radio navigation aids (RNS), consulting services and aircraft maintenance.

SMATSA except for air traffic control aircraft to overfly provides services approach and aerodrome control services to airports: Belgrade, Batajnica, Kraljevo, Nis, Vrsac, Ponikve, Podgorica and Tivat. SMATSA also provides services for the aircraft, which take off or landing at airports that are close to the area jurisdiction such as Skopje, Thessaloniki, Tirana, Dubrovnik, Split, Sarajevo, Mostar, Tuzla, Zagreb, Osijek, Budapest, Bratislava, Timisoara and Sofia.

The airport traffic control (AFC) Ponikve was formed in 1992 when they came Units RV and PVO JNA.
1997. on the territory of the village Stapari built modern control tower, which has the latest equipment for receiving and dispatching aircraft.
